In case you didn’t know, over 30 DFW schools have closed due to coronavirus concerns. The now global pandemic has spread to all of Texas’ biggest cities: Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin. In response, Texas Governor Abbott has declared Texas in a state of disaster.
People are also hoarding a variety of items…like toilet paper. Even Stephen King couldn’t have predicted this in The Stand. (toilet paper apocalypse)
Governor Abbot has also announced that he is directing day cares, nursing homes, and prisons to limit visitations in an effort to protect Texas’ “most vulnerable citizens.”
Dallas officials have canceled all events with expected crowds of 500 or more, and highly encouraged event organizers to cancel events with 250 people. Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson issued a proclamation late Thursday declaring a local state of disaster for his city of 1.3 million people.

Texas Governor Abbott is also urging people to stay calm despite declaring Texas a state of disaster, and stressed, “there’s no reason to hoard.”
Thank goodness it’s spring because I see a lot of tree leaves in our future.

Governor Abbott said a drive-through testing center will open soon in San Antonio with more to follow soon in Dallas, Houston, and Austin. Tarrant County health officials are making plans to have COVID-19 testing available in Fort Worth soon.
