You can’t help but smile when you see this happy caterpillar complete with antennae! But first, did you know this giant Texas caterpillar has a name? Yes, it’s “Bruco” and he’s a very busy caterpillar. Don’t let his flirty eyes, smiling mouth, and glow in the dark boots fool you–it’s not all fun and games inside this caterpillar. Bruco is actually the national home of Monolithic Dome Institute and the caterpillar is their manufacturing plant. That’s right–this huge man made caterpillar is a factory! Home Sweet Dome

This massive caterpillar is truly impressive! Bruco is made out of seven, 60 foot, interconnected domes encompassing 14,000 square feet of factory space on the inside. This state-of-the-art caterpillar is the coolest roadside attraction and definitely the busiest caterpillar I’ve ever seen, besides tent worms.

You don’t even have to stop for a great picture of this oddity (unless you’re driving…never take pics while driving). Just take the exit and stay on the frontage road. You will see the cheerful caterpillar before entering I-35 (going north). Visitors are welcome though…
