It’s been a wild week with not only a full moon, Daylight Savings Time, and Friday the 13th, but then coronavirus got flung into the whole pot and now we’re all at home on self-quarantine. With all the negativity going around, we thought we share some of the inspirational stories we heard about this week that restored our faith in humanity.

1. When Mark Cuban reminded us all what it really means to be a leader.
Dallas Maverick’s owner, Mark Cuban, was caught live on video just as shocked as the rest of us that the NBA had suspended the season due to coronavirus concerns. To which he quickly put together a plan to pay arena workers through the end of the month who are now out of a job for the foreseeable future.
2. When Dr. McElya Began Screening Patients In A Parking Lot So They Didn’t Have To Worry
Okay, so we’re all justifiably anxious just a little bit about the coronavirus. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic a Dallas doctor put people at ease as he began seeing patients from the comfort of their own car from a parking lot at Neighborhood Medical Center clinic in Dallas.
3. When Bill Gates Quit Microsoft So He Could Dedicate More Time To Philanthropy
Bill Gates has officially stepped down from Microsoft’s board of directors. In a statement released on Friday, the Microsoft co-founder explained that he wants to dedicate more time to his philanthropy work including global health, education, and climate change. He had already transitioned out of a day-to-day role in the company to spend more time on his work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

4. Disney Announcing They Are Releasing Frozen 2 Early Because Schools Closed Due To Coronavirus
Disney is giving parents a treat as schools close for the coronavirus outbreak. The Walt Disney Company announced Friday it will release “Frozen 2” on its Disney+ streaming service Sunday, March 15, which is three whole months ahead of schedule!
The movie will be available in high definition upon release, then in Ultra HD on Tuesday, March 17.
5. When A Group Of Neighbors In Locked-Down Italy Put On A Musical Show For The The World
Ok, so we should really say several groups of neighbors, because it seems like Italians throughout the country are doing their best to lighten the mood despite that over 21,000 people so far have been infected with COVID-19, with over 5,800 reported deaths associated with the illness in their country.
One musician, Didie Caria, even performed a concert for his neighbors from his balcony. Italy is under a nationwide lockdown, and residents can only leave their homes for essential reasons like work and to buy groceries.
6. When Trader Joe’s Sent Dallas Area Students Home With Food
There are many kids in North Texas that don’t have enough to eat already, but with the coronavirus pandemic it’s hard getting food at the grocery store even if you normally have enough. Through a partnership with Trader Joe’s, students are getting food to take home with them over spring break.
Many schools are opening up their cafeterias this next week to help feed students who may other go without a meal. Other school districts in the DFW area offer similar programs such as Dallas ISD, Keller ISD, Cedar Hill, ISD, and Denton ISD. You should check with your school district about times and requirements.
7. When UNT Made It To The NCAA Playoffs For The First Time Since 1990
The University of North Texas men’s basketball team snagged the championship title of the 2019-20 Conference USA Regular Season. And then the C-USA suspended all games due to coronavirus concerns…effectively placing them in March Madness. And then the NCAA suspended the season. We can celebrate the small wins, right?
8. When Medical City Decided To Offer FREE Online Coronavirus (COVID-19) Screenings
For a limited time, Medical City Virtual Care is offering FREE coronavirus screening and virtual visit to those that are experiencing symptoms.
Symptoms of COVID-19 can include any of the following: cough, fever, shortness of breath. You do not need to be experiencing all three.
In order to be eligible for the FREE screening and virtual visit using the online tool must meet certain conditions such as having been in contact with someone known to have COVID-19 and/or have visited one of the countries or areas identified as high risk.

10. When This Big Brother Took His Little Sister To A Daddy Daughter Dance After Getting Stood Up
In a viral Facebook post by their mother, Trelysia Hamerter explains how sad her 7-year-old daughter, Skylar, was when she learned her father was not coming to the Daddy Daughter dance…for a second year in a row. That’s when her big brother, Christian, who is only 11 years old himself, stepped in and offered to take her instead. Such a big heart!
12. When This Australian Newspaper Printed Toilet Paper After Stores Ran Out
When suddenly a digital subscription doesn’t make sense anymore…
The NT News, an Australian newspaper known for it’s humorous front pages, actually printed toilet paper due to the shortage caused by crazed hoarders freaking out over the coronavirus pandemic. Eight pages were printed in the newspaper complete with cut out lines so people could use the paper more efficiently while reading on the toilet.

Yes, it’s true. You really can order a Coronavirus Frappuccino from Starbucks if you’re in the mood to lighten your mood.
