Stonewall Motor Lodge – Where To Stay in The Texas Hill Country
Close to the historic German city of Fredericksburg, and just 30 minutes from more than 50 wineries, breweries, distilleries, restaurants, and attractions Stonewall Motor Lodge is a welcoming place to stay.
This Hill Country lodging option is straight out the 60’s and has a retro vibe not often found these days.
The motor lodge is in the shape of a classic 1964 L-shaped motel, located on the side of the road, and in the heart of the famous Hwy 290 wine route.

Nearby attractions include Texas White House (2.0 miles), Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site (1.8 miles), and The Sauer-Beckmann Farmstead Tours (2.1 miles).

Most wine cellars close at 6pm. That means at dusk you can admire the sunset and maybe a glass of wine (or two) on the terrace.

Rooms at at the motor lodge are super clean, beautiful, and the attention is top notch. In the lobby you find fresh coffee, smiles, maps and even pleasant conversation.
The motor lodge also offers four cabins with even more space, and there’s also a safe area for recreational vehicles (RVs).

From Dallas it’s about 4 hours. Plan a road trip to the Texas Hill Country, take a tour on the Highway 290 Wine Route, enjoy a good meal in Stonewall or Fredericksburg, and return to relax at the hotel for the evening.

How much does it cost to stay at the motor lodge?
The Motor Lodge has 12 beautiful rooms ($109 a night). The beds are decorated with exclusive Southwest / tribal patterned blankets, which makes the stay even more special.
The most requested suite is The Press Room ($197 per night) which includes a story-telling of the great President Lyndon B. Johnson.
