Drive Through Coronavirus Testing Info:
The drive through coronavirus testing center is possible thanks to a private lab called Clinical Pathology Laboratories, and was started up just this week.
You can stay in your own car and receive testing by Doctor Martin McElya, right in the parking lot! This is the perfect way for those who may be carriers of the virus to avoid going into a doctors office and spreading it further.
Dr. McElya is also the only physician certified in the state of Texas to conduct immigration medical exams for Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States. Read more about the doctor here.
Requirements for Drive Thru Coronavirus Testing
There are a few requirements for testing due to the scarcity of the test, so don’t just drive up expecting to be able to receive testing. The clinic has done over a dozen tests so far, but has turned away many others hoping to be tested. These restrictions are necessary due to the limited quantities of test kits available.
Who Can Get Tested For Coronavirus?
In order to be a candidate for testing, patients must have already had a negative test result for both Strep and the Flu. A second requirement is symptoms of COVID-19, including dry cough and a fever. Age, work, or travel habits are also factors.
Dr. McElya states that test results can take about three days, and he is expecting positive results from a few patients.
