Dia De Los Muertos is a traditional Mexican holiday that celebrates life and honors the dead. Things that are typically considered scary like skulls and ghosts become bright and colorful, and amazing art can be found.  Denton does an amazing job of bringing a taste of this Mexican holiday to North Texas every year! The amount of things going on at the Day Of The Dead Festival in Denton will blow your mind! There will be unique activities like custom coffin races or the lantern parade. Artists and beginners alike are welcome to display their artwork or become vendors. You’ll be able to celebrate Mexican traditions by participating in a butterfly release to honor your loved ones who have passed.

Don’t think that they forgot about Halloween though! In the spirit of Halloween, there will be creepy poetry and scary stories that will make your skin crawl. The Cirque Du Horror is the perfect mix of Halloween and comedy that’ll leave you cracking up! Don’t worry though, everyone will be kept spooky but kid friendly!

Save the date for this free event on October 26th from 11am-9pm. Stay tuned for a full schedule of events on their official website.

Denton’s Day Of The Dead Festival is totally free to attend and watch activities. You can however register to be an actual participant in events like the coffin races, costume contest, or to be an art vendor!   The cutoff date for registration is October 12th, so head on over to their website for more info.
