Several established and high profile concerts and events have been either postponed or outright cancelled this year because of coronavirus fears.

Festivals And Events Cancelled In DFW Due To Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Local Dallas Fort Worth Events Cancelled Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
- Perot Museum of Nature and Science is closing until March 20 due to coronavirus concerns. That means spring break activities are canceled.
- Six Flags has temporarily closed due to coronavirus. No cases of COVID-19 have been reported as coming from the theme park.
- Coronavirus has now claimed the World’s Only Pickle Parade and Palooza that was supposed to take place March 13-14.
- Upcoming shows by Willie Nelson, Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban, and Lizzo at Globe Life Park in Arlington are cancelled. Over 40,000 people were expected to attend.
- All pubic and private events at Sundance Square in Downtown Fort Worth are cancelled through March 31, 2020 due to concerns over coronavirus (COVID-19). The plaza will remain open during normal daytime and evening hours.
- According to a YouTube video published Wednesday evening, Jared’s Epic Nerf Battle has been postponed until August 8th. The VIP Meet and Greet will be August 7, 2020. This SOLD OUT event was supposed to be held March 21, 2020.
- City of Dallas has cancelled the St. Patrick’s Parade and Block Party along Greenville Avenue in Dallas due to COVID-19 / coronavirus concerns. The event was expected to draw a crowd of 100,000 people.
- 17th Annual AsiaFest in Plano, TX which was planned for May 2, 2020 has been CANCELLED due to COVID-19. This was a free event, and we covered it here.
Non-local Events Cancelled Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
- Austin city officials cancelled SXSW / South by Southwest entertainment and technology festival that was scheduled for March 13-22. This is a historic decision as SXSW has never been cancelled in it’s 34-year run.
- Other non-local, but high-profile festivals to be rescheduled include Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals. These festivals were planned for April in California, however they are being postponed until October. Coachella will now be October 9-11 and Stagecoach will take place October 23-25. Festival goers still don’t know if they will be issued a refund…ouch!
- Broadshow theaters are closed until April 13, 2020.
- Disneyland and Disney California Adventure have announced they are closing for the rest of March.
- Disney and Princess Cruises have been cancelled until further notice.
Movie Releases Postponed Due to Coronavirus
- James Bond movie release No Time To Die has been rescheduled for November 2020 due to global COVID-19 / coronavirus concerns.
- Sony Pictures announced that Peter Rabbit 2 will be released this summer in August instead of this spring due to coronavirus concerns. Peter Rabbit 2 originally had an early April release date set for the United States.
Sports Cancelled / Postponed Due to Coronavirus COVID-19
- The XFL has officially canceled the rest of the season due to coronavirus.
- UIL has suspended the Texas Boys State basketball tournament.
- The NHL just announced they have suspended all games until further notice due to COVID-19.
- The MLB has suspended all games due to COVID-19 until further notice.
- The remainder of the NBA G League (this includes Texas Legends) season has been suspended / cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to an announcement made on social media. (Texas Legends are a Metroplex Social advertising partner.)
- The NBA just announced it has suspended all games indefinitely for the season after a Utah Jazz player preliminary tests positive for coronavirus, COVID-19.
- The NCAA just announced March Madness
will be played this year without an audienceis cancelled due to coronavirus, COVID-19 concerns.Fans can watch the game STREAMED LIVE HERE or on select channels (full schedule here).All NCAA winter and spring tournaments are cancelled. Let’s just call this March Sadness. - The
XFL,NBA,NHL,Major League BaseballandMajor League Soccerhave not announced the cancellation of any games, yet.
